Cool Tools Screencast Reflection

I think I exerted a decent level of effort on the cool tools screencast. The most work was just in learning your way around the tool and preparing the SWOT analysis. It actually took me a fair amount of time to produce the screencast. Even practicing a few dry runs with it I found myself making a lot of mistakes and having too many uhms and ahs when I recorded. The final version has a few but is definitely a step down from the first few takes. In all I think the whole screencasting segment took me about and hour to perform. I made one mistake in the final version, but I thought it was actually good because it showed how multiple versions could be viewed on Dropbox.

I think that by creating and sharing screencasts impacts my future teaching by one giving me experience in screenscasting. All and all I think it is a pretty neat process and could be really cool for giving students directions on online assignments hearing my voice, and being able to replay directions over and over again. By sharing it with our peers it allows us to more effectively find out what tools are out there and which ones are good. Instead of having to look through all of these different sites and learn each one to establish if it may be something we may want to use or not we can check out what our peers thought in a summary that highlights key points. Another thing that sharing does is gets us used to the process of sharing our screencasts which we may do with students and colleagues in the future.
